Dear Friends:
 
Our Mom, Kathy Sandbach has been diagnosed with an extremely rare type of dementia, called Frontal Temporal Dementia. If you were around her during the last few years, you may have noticed some changes in her -- slight at first, and then progressing to severe. It took our family some time and a littany of tests, but this last December we finally got the diagnosis, and began putting all the pieces together. You can learn more about this disease here.
 
As we can no longer provide the care she needs, we have placed our fabulous Mom in an assisted living facility. As her health is declining rapidly each day, she is no longer quilting.
 
After a long conversation, we as Kathy’s children have decided to begin selling our mom's quilting legacy. While it breaks our hearts to do this, we simply cannot keep up with the medical costs and long term care needs. As a test experiment, we put 3 of her quilts on eBay the week of August 13, 2009. The auction proved to be immensely successful, and so we will continue to post quilts for sale weekly.  Her quilts can be found by simply searching her name on eBay.
 
Since our Mom’s disease was first made public last week, we have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support that we have received. It has been incredible to hear how our Mom has been admired, respected and loved.
